About Dr. Foley
Janice Foley was born in Winnipeg, MB. Her first degree, earned in 1976, was a BComm (Honours) in Personnel and Industrial Relations from the University of Manitoba. While working as a Business Instructor at Assiniboine Community College she acquired a BEd (Educational Administration) from Brandon University (1986) and a MEd (Educational Administration) (1988) from the University of Manitoba. She then entered the doctoral program in the Faculty of Commerce and Business Administration at the University of British Columbia where she obtained a PhD Organizational Behaviour in 1995.
From 1998 - 2000 she held a term position at the University of Winnipeg in the Administrative Studies Department. She then joined the Faculty of Business Administration at the University of Regina where she achieved the rank of Professor in 2009 and was awarded the title Professor Emerita upon her retirement in 2017.
In 2018 she relocated to Victoria, BC where she completed a Certificate in Conflict Resolution from the Justice Institute of BC. She is currently a member of the Associate Civil Roster of Mediate BC and has opened a private practice, Workplace Dispute Settlement Services Victoria, that offers workplace investigation and assessment services, facilitation of difficult workplace conversations, and mediation.
Janice’s academic career familiarized her with the challenges associated with organizational life, including the burden imposed by unresolved conflict on both organizations and workers. She brings a wealth of knowledge of organizational dynamics and of human behaviour in organizations to her conflict resolution practice, which seeks to generate positive outcomes for both organizations and workers.
She works with organizations of any size, in any sector, that require impartial assistance to address workplace conflict.
